If you've always owned brand new vehicles, maybe you haven't needed to replace one yet, but if your vehicle is on 60,000 miles or more, it might be time to replace your timing belt. You see, your timing belt is made of rubber. It also runs at high speed that allows your camshaft and crankshaft to open and close the pistons and valves in synchrony.
So how do you know when it's time to replace your timing belt? Look at your owner's manual to get a rough estimate of when it will need to be replaced. Most recommend between 60,000 and 80,000 miles. Otherwise, another tell-tale sign that your timing belt needs to be replaced is a high-pitched whining sound when you turn on the engine.
