Have you been keeping up with the Nissan Titan Truckumentary? Our team at Gillman Nissan of Fort Bend has been sharing the story of the Titan’s development. To catch up, check out Chapter 1 and 2 then Chapter 3 and 4. Now, we’re bringing you the next chapter of the new 2016 Nissan Titan.
“Heart of Cold,” the fifth chapter of the Truckumentary series, tracks the Titan’s performance as engineers perform cold weather tests. Even though we are in an area that doesn’t experience snow, these tests prove the superior handling of the Titan on less than ideal road conditions.
After clinical procedures and durability testing in mild-weathered Arizona, the Titan moved on to cold weather testing in Alaska, Colorado and Michigan. If the next-generation Titan could survive these extreme cold temperatures and conditions, it could perform well anywhere. These tests demonstrated the Titan’s durability and performance even after picking up dirt and mud while driving on wet roads. Driving in these conditions was the best and most realistic way to simulate real world experience Nissan truck drivers would have. Through this too, drivers became aware of more nuances and competitive advantages the Titan had. To make a great truck, tests needed to be conducted beyond the chambers and facilities, but on the roads where the Titan will actually be driven.
As senior product planning manager Carl Phillips said, "there is a lot that our engineers can do behind the computer screen and in the laboratory or in the proving grounds. But you can never replicate what goes on in the real world."
