Texas is a great state and one we at Gillman Nissan love to call home. From Hill Country to the coast to the metroplexes sprawled in between, Texas is full of adventure and sights to see.

At Gillman Nissan of Fort Bend in the Katy, Stafford, Sugar Land, Rosenberg and Houston area, one of our favorite past times in the summer is to have a staycation. Staycations are vacations spent at home or close to home - they're more affordable because of reduced travel time and easier to plan. Being centrally located in the Rosenberg area, there's numerous activities to enjoy nearby.
Here's some of favorite staycation ideas right here in the Houston area:
Museum - The Houston Museum of Natural Science is ranked as the number one "Thing to Do in the Houston Area" and is one of the Top 10 most attended museums in the U.S.
Sporting Event - Catch an Astro's game at Minute Maid Park and enjoy baseball with air conditioning.
Family Board Game Tournament - Stock up on snacks and drinks and gather all your favorite board games for a day that will make you feel like a child again.
Bowling - Switch up the usual bowling routine by going at night when the disco lights come on or make up different rules each turn i.e. bowl with your non-dominant hand or bowl backwards.
Camp in Your Backyard - All of the fun with all the amenities you'll need. There's nothing better than enjoying the great outdoors, but still being able to come inside to use the bathroom or take a cool shower.
Dinner Theater - For a family friendly option, try "Murder By Chocolate" - a guest interactive mystery dinner theater.
DIY Project - Have you been wanting to redecorate the living room or plant a backyard garden? Spend the weekend working through this project and having quality time with your loved ones.
Movie Marathon - Grab blankets and pillow to make a comfy pallet, make some popcorn and let each person pick a movie to watch. Then sit back and enjoy your very own film festival.
Nature Park - Sea Turtle Inc. in South Padre is a protected park for sea turtles where you'll be entertained and informed about sea turtle conservation.
Library - Reading is one of the simplest, yet most underrated pleasures. Find one that will help you escape on your staycation, broaden your worldview or help you through a tough spot.
A staycation is also a great opportunity to schedule car maintenance or come browse our wide inventory of new and used Nissan cars, trucks and SUVs.
