Nissan Motor Company recently announced some achievements in moving towards being a more environmentally friendly manufacturer and improving sustainability in global activities. Nissan has shown a 22.6 percent reduction in carbon dioxide over a period of 10 years, exceeding their anticipated goal.
Gillman Nissan of Fort Bend is proud to be associated with a company dedicated to sustainable and environmentally friendly efforts. Here are the current goals and initiatives the Nissan Green Program 2016 is working towards:
Minimize Corporate Carbon Footprint - Nissan has set a goal to increase the usage rate of renewable energy in global business activities to nine percent by fiscal year 2016.
Zero emission vehicles - As the use of zero emission vehicles increases, Nissan has launched a "No Charge to Charge" program in the United States. This program provides two years of free access to select charging stations with the purchase of a new Nissan LEAF.
Second-Life Vehicle Batteries - Partnering with Green Charge Networks, the largest provider of commercial energy storage, Nissan Motor Company has begun to provide second-life lithium-ion vehicle batteries to be used for stationary commercial energy storage in the United States.
If you’re interested in committing to a greener lifestyle, Gillman Nissan of Fort Bend can help! Here are some easy tips for you to contribute to a better environment and community:
Bring a reusable bag when shopping and skip the plastic and paper ones. Many stores sell them for under $5 near the checkout. They’re often larger and more durable.
Turn off your household electronics when you're not using them. If you can, unplug them for even more energy savings.
Be mindful of the water you're using. When brushing your teeth, turn off running water. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency suggests this could save up to eight gallons a day.
Water your lawn during the cooler morning hours to decrease the amount of water that evaporates. Adjust sprinklers to aim directly where the water is needed, not on the driveway or sidewalk.
Recycle. Fort Bend County offers recycling for the standard plastics, papers, glass, etc. and also provides a drop off program for chemicals, batteries, household appliances and more. Visit their website for more information about the Recycling Center in Fort Bend.
Improve your Nissan’s gas mileage by keeping your tires inflated to their proper pressure and using the recommended motor oil grade.
Another great option for going green is to drive an electric vehicle. The Nissan LEAF has an extremely low impact on the environment while still deliver high performance, technology and safety to the driver.
